Carve out your cheekbones with Real Techniques' Sculpting Set
Vivian Seljee

Contour kits are taking over the high street. Equally important are contour brushes. That’s what Sam and Nic Chapman from Pixiwoo must’ve thought. They’ve just brought out their Real Techniques Sculpting Set.

The set is a collector’s edition and consists of three brushes: a sculpting brush, a setting brush, and fan brush. The sculpting brush and setting brush are sold individually as well; the fan brush is exclusive to this set.

Instead of the typical matte metallic grip, these new brushes have a pink shiny metallic grip.

Sculpting brush

The sculpting brush is quite sturdy but fits perfectly in your hand. The bristles are densely packed and have a slight angle, which makes the brush perfect to apply a contour shade in the hollows of your cheeks. By turning the brush – so that the hairs are vertically on your face instead of horizontally – you can blend your contour shade out.

Setting brush

You can use this brush for multiple purposes. Firstly you can use the setting brush to apply powder to smaller areas of your face, if you want to make sure you don’t ‘over powder’. The brush can also be used to apply a lighter powder underneath the eyes, which makes that area brighter and makes you look more awake. Thirdly – and how I like to use it – is to use the brush to apply highlighter on the high points of the face. I like to apply highlighter on the top of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my Cupid’s bow.

Fan brush

The fan brush can be used to apply highlighter as well as blush. It fits perfectly on the top of your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose, ensuring your highlighter looks flawless. The fan brush is also perfect to apply blush. If your blush is very pigmented I recommend a fan brush, because this brush picks up less product than most blush brushes, which will leave you with a more natural flush on your cheeks.

I am very pleased with this Real Techniques Sculpting Set. I haven’t found anything similar in this price range, so the set is unique to the high street. The price is decent as well, as you get three brushes for £20.99. The set is exclusively available at Superdrug.
