The best nights out for students in Lincoln

Imogen Bavinton

The first year of university will undoubtedly be one of the best years of your life. You’ve moved out of home and ready to make memories here at Lincoln University. Going out drinking will probably take up a large amount of your time and it’s hard not to get too carried away with the fresher’s lifestyle sometimes.  Without trying to sound boring, you should try prioritise and get to know which nights out are best and cheapest, this way you’re not spending too much money on nights out that just weren’t worth the money.

Monday

If you’re really into R&B music then LoveDough up at Circle nightclub is the place for you. Guestlist entry is £5 so make sure you get on it quickly if you want to go as without your names on the guestlist it’s an extra £1. Drinks are pretty reasonably priced at £1.50 for a single vodka and mixer or £2.50 for a double. I wouldn’t say this is the cheapest night out of the week and may not be for everybody but it’s a good night out if you’re into that type of music.

Tuesday

Without a doubt the cheapest night out on a Tuesday would be Skint Tuesdays at Status nightclub. However this may not be to everybody’s taste. Cheesy pop and chart music is played all night here so if you’re into that then this is the place for you. With £3 guestlist entry and £1 for a single mixer you can’t really go wrong.

Wednesday

On Wednesday the best place to go would be Quack Wednesdays at The Engine Shed on Campus. It’s always busy there as all the sports teams and societies go there religiously every Wednesday. Price wise, it’s not too bad either. Entry starts at £3.50 if you were to buy a ticket and it costs £2.00 for a double vodka mixer.

Thursday

I would say Thursday nights out aren’t the most popular night in Lincoln. Entourage at Home would be the best place to be if you prefer large nightclubs and like to get a bit more dressed up for a night out. Entourage has reasonably priced entry at £3.00 before midnight if you’re on the guestlist and drink prices are equally good at £2.50 for a double.

Friday

The only place to be on a Friday would have to be Superbull at Moka nightclub. Everywhere else in town is ridiculously expensive for us students at the weekend so Superbull is nice and cheap for a Friday night in Lincoln. Entry is £4 before midnight with a student card and you can get a vodka energy drink for just £1.25 once you’re in there. Although the floors are sticky and the music might not be to everybody’s taste, you always end up having a funny night there.

Saturday

Saturday nights out are pretty dead for students in Lincoln. At the clubs in town, prices are really expensive and just not worth the money on a Saturday night. If you like rock/indie music though, Propaganda at The Engine Shed may be your answer if you’re desperate for a night out. Entry costs £4 before 11:30pm and once you’re in there drinks cost £1.50 for a single vodka mixer and £2.50 for a double. I’d have to warn you though, Propaganda is often not popular and not very busy so you really would have to be desperate for that night out to consider going there!

Last year when I was a first year my favourite nights were Tuesday at Skint, Friday at Superbull and surprisingly Saturdays at Propaganda. I have a lot of good, bad and hilarious memories from all of these places and used to go religiously to these events pretty much every week! I’d say last year my personal favourite night of the week would be Skint as it’s more of a casual night and because the club itself is smaller, the atmosphere  was better. This year I tend to only go out on a Friday to Superbull which I prefer as when you’ve waited all week to go out it’s nice to get a little bit more dressed up.
