The Students Savers Tip: Morrisons Match & More card

I think we can all agree grocery shopping can be quite expensive. Of course you can save some money and go to more affordable supermarkets such as Lidl or Aldi, but these are not always in reach. Us students tend to go to the nearest supermarket, as most of us don’t have a car. If that nearest store is Morrisons for you, you’re in luck. Get their Match & More card to save some money!

 

"We now price match Aldi and Lidl … as well as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda." The concept of the Match & More card is pretty easy. If you could’ve paid less for your comparable groceries at Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury’s or Asda, Morrisons will give you the difference in points – that are added to your card. Best thing about this card: it’s free!

 

If the price difference is one pound you will get a thousand points. If you collect five thousand points on your Match & More card, you will be rewarded with a five-pound voucher, which is valid for over a year. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For me – an international student from the Netherlands – this card is amazing. Coming to England, I knew life would be more expensive than back home. Especially when it comes to meat I was shocked at the price difference. Four pounds for mince (445g)? In the Netherlands I can buy 500 grams of mince for two pounds.

 

As I live in Courts, Morrisons is the closest supermarket for me – even though I still have to walk a good ten to fifteen minutes. This is the grocery store where I do most of my shopping, so when the cashier asked me if I wanted to get a Match & More card I immediately said yes. Every penny counts, right? I’ve received a couple of five-pound vouchers already, even though I’ve only had the card for less than two months. So I definitely recommend this card to anyone who shops at Morrisons. It really can’t hurt, as it’s free to start with.  

 

You can pick up a temporary Match & More card in-store. You can use this to collect your well-deserved points while you are waiting for your “official” card, which you have to register for online. The card arrived in my mail within a week.  Once you have registered you can manage your transactions, see how many points you still have to collect for your next voucher and more. You can also collect points from online purchases.
