Dramatic eyes: The perfect night time look
Kenna Jordan-lee Zarebski
One of my favourite make-up looks for a night out is to have dramatic smoky eyes that I believe can make any woman look flawless. Whatever colour eyes you have this look will work.
Don’t worry about the price - the make-up I use is cheap but leaves you looking like you have spent a lot. The different combination of make-up I use to create my smoky eyes can be found in either Boots or Superdrug. Superdrug is normally the cheapest place to shop, however, for those of you that prefer Boots and shop there often, don’t forget to sign up and receive a Boots Advantage Card. I recently received mine and it is so worth having if you love to treat yourself to make-up. For every £1 you spend, you will receive 4 points on your card. You can save these points up and then spend them to your advantage. For example, if you have 114 points on your card, then you have £1.14 to spend.
This smoky eye tutorial has a bit of added colour to it. You don’t have to follow this step to step. You can use a different combination of colours that suits you best. The main thing I want you girls to get from this is how to apply to the colours to make this look effective. Some people may think having eyes this dramatic and bold looks too much, I say don’t listen to them! If you like to get dolled up on your nights out and having eyes catching make-up then that is up to you and no one else!
Firstly, apply your foundation/concealer/powder/bronzer/blush, whatever your normal routine is. Then get the turquoise coloured Couture Smudging Eye Pencil and line the top of your eye, creating a small flick when you reach the end. This pencil is brilliant as it has a nib at the end for you to blend the colour in. Begin to blend in the turquoise colour using the opposite side of the brush. Using this colour makes your eyes appear bolder and will also enhance the colour of your eyes. The colour of this eye liner is optional. You could use grey, black, purple, blue etc. - whatever you prefer.
Next, to begin my smoky eye look, using a soft eye shadow brush, layer your eyelid with Rimmel London’s light grey from the shadow pallet, not going right to the top of your brow. I have found this eye shadow is really good quality and will last all night. Using a different brush, soften the edges of the grey to give it a fading appearance towards the end of your eye.
After that it is time to apply some darker tones across your eyelid. Using your Rimmel London eye shadow palette again, lightly apply the black shade starting at the end of your eye. Your eyes will always look more effective if you keep the lighter colours at the start of your eye and gradually get darker towards the end. Blend the black in and add more grey if you feel the need to, so the colours fade into one another. Bring the black gently across the top of the grey, making sure not to cover your whole eyelid in black.
Keep adding more black using both the Rimmel and Primark smoky eye pallets if you prefer the darker look. Simply add more grey/silver to lighten it up a bit.
Now that the top section of your eye is complete, to finish off use your turquoise eye pencil again to create a very thin line underneath your eye. Same technique as before, use the end of the liner to blend the line you have created under your lashes.
Then use the Royal Lashed Out Black Eyeliner Pencil for the inside of your eye. This will also make your eyes stand out more, appearing brighter and bolder. Use the black liner all the way to your tear duct.
Once you have done all of this, all you need to do last is apply mascara! Creating long lashes will be great with this look and you will have eyes that stand out all night!
