Charlotte Crosbys 3 Minute Belly Blitz
Imogen Bavinton
Exercise for me is a way to destress from my university coursework and just forget about everything for an hour or so. Obviously unless you can afford a gym membership (which is hard when you’re living off a student budget!) your options on what you can do to keep fit are limited. I recently discovered that fitness DVD’S are a great way to work out, but are also fun to do as well. If you’re like me and are very close with your housemates you can all chip in together to buy one and all do it together in the living room on an evening. Sometimes it beats going for a run, which can get a bit repetitive for me.
Together with two of my closest friends who I live with, we decided to buy Charlotte Crosby’s 3 Minute Belly Blitz DVD. Some of you may not know her but Charlotte stars in MTV’s show Geordie Shore and recently went from 11 stone down to 8 and a half, using the exercises in the DVD. There are twelve different exercises in total that are designed to target the belly and each one lasts for just three minutes. In it, Charlotte presents these routines along with her trainers Richard Callender from ITV’s The Biggest Loser and David Souter who I thought were likeable characters from the start.
What happens?
The idea of the DVD is that anybody can do it and that you build up to eventually being able to manage all twelve rounds. As a house we usually manage six or seven in a night as they are pretty intense workouts but we aim to be able to do all twelve by the end of the academic year! We find we always end up having a laugh when we do it too, which makes it a lot more enjoyable.
What are the exercises?
The DVD features an easy warm up, cool down and a diet plan which is ideal for anybody who wants to lose weight. The exercises themselves range from high intensity jumps, skips, squats, punches and kickboxing. There are also routines that focus on strengthening the core such a push ups and planks. In addition to this there is also a ten minutes extra section focusing entirely on the abs. Without fail we will finish off a session with this as all three of us want to tone up this area. Although it’s tough, from doing this four times a week you genuinely can see a difference in your body. Even if it is only a minor change!
Upsides
For £11.69 you can buy a used copy of Belly Blitz from Amazon or £12.99 if you want a brand new copy. For this amount I think you get your money’s worth as this is a fairly cheap price, especially if you’re splitting the cost with friends. The exercises can be done by anybody, whether you’re a beginner, wanting to lose weight or simply do a bit of exercise on a night after university like me! As each routine only lasts three minutes it’s also a quick workout if you don’t have much time to spare.
Downsides
Having said this however, the warm up and cool down can get a bit repetitive if you do it every night. For me I prefer to alternate between working out from the DVD and going for a run around the block as otherwise it can get a bit boring.
Overall I would highly recommend buying this DVD to other student girls who are wanting cheap, alternative ways to keep fit. It’s suitable for all levels of fitness, far more affordable than getting a gym membership but most importantly it’s fun and can be done from the comfort of your flat or house.
